Put Your Skills to Work for Millican Arts

From Events to Stories, There is a Place for You Here

Every story Millican Arts tells, from Dr. Arthenia Jackson Bates Millican’s own words to the salons and festivals that carry her legacy forward, gets built by people who show up. We are looking for volunteers who want to be part of that work, in whatever way fits their time and talents.

Check as many boxes below as call to you. We will follow up with details on the opportunities that match.

Fundraising

Help us build the relationships and campaigns that keep Millican Arts growing. This can mean identifying prospects, supporting donor outreach or helping plan giving campaigns tied to our Storykeepers and Seedkeepers programs. If you enjoy connecting people to a cause worth investing in, this is your lane.

Event Planning and Coordination

From intimate literary salons to the Annual Millican Circle and community festivals, our events are where the mission comes to life in person. Volunteers here help with logistics, day-of coordination and the countless details that make an event feel effortless to the people attending. If you like bringing order to a room full of moving parts, we would love your help.

Foundation Operations Support

Every organization runs on the work nobody sees: scheduling, recordkeeping, correspondence and the everyday tasks that keep things moving. If you have a knack for organization and want to help behind the scenes, this is where your skills make the whole foundation run smoother.

Social Media Management

Help us share Dr. Millican’s story and the work of Millican Arts with a wider audience. This can include content creation, scheduling posts or engaging with our online community. If you enjoy storytelling through a screen as much as in person, this is a natural fit.

Grant Research and Writing

Whether you have experience writing grant proposals or simply enjoy research, we can use your help identifying funding opportunities and building the case for support. Both experienced grant writers and those willing to dig into prospect research are welcome here.

Millican House Restoration

Dr. Millican’s historic Sumter home is a literary landmark and a living piece of her legacy. As we work out what restoration and preservation will require, we want volunteers ready to contribute, whatever form that takes. Sign up here to be among the first we call as this project takes shape.

Book Publication

Help us bring Dr. Millican’s books back into print so new generations of readers can discover her work. Opportunities here may include editorial support, research or helping coordinate the publication process. If you believe her words belong on shelves again, this is how you help make it happen.
